An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the market leader in this sector of the construction industry. Based in East Sussex and part of the Hotchkiss Group, with annual turnover of £30m, Hotchkiss is the UK's leading air conditioning ductwork contractor. The business has an enviable reputation for successful delivery of prestigious projects for leading developers and contractors. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and leading a team of six, you will be responsible for all aspects of finance and accounting as well as ensuring the continued development of reporting processes and controls and maintaining strong performance analysis. The role of Financial Controller is a key member of the Management Team.

 

Role Specification

•Manage and lead the finance team including forging close working relationships with the Commercial and Senior Management Teams.

•Preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts and provision of data to analyse the performance of the business.

•Working with the Commercial Team to ensure the accurate recording of costs and liabilities for work undertaken to date.

•Preparation of the annual budget, quarterly reviews and forecasts.

•Provision of financial management of contracts including making appropriate recommendations and advising of potential impact of management decisions on the business.

•Ensure all financial policies and procedures are adhered to.

•Regular meetings with the Directors and the teams to discuss strategic financial issues related to contracts and analysis the financial reports and forecasts.

•Management of Group Payroll, Weekly Payroll, Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) reporting and Procurement.

•Improving systems and processes regarding the preparation and presentation of management information, including appropriate costing and reporting systems.

•Provision of information and reporting for external auditors’ requirements.

 

General Responsibilities

•To manage the performance and development of staff within your team and be responsible for all financial functions.

•Through strong leadership, to ensure that your objectives are adequately cascaded and supported by your teams.

•Full participation as a member of the Management Team.

•To promote a culture of continual improvement.

 

Person Specification

•Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA 2 years + post qualification experience.

•The role could suit a qualified professional seeking to make a move from practice into industry or moving from a finance role which includes leading and managing finance teams.

•Demonstrable knowledge of accounting principles and processes including payroll, CIS and P11D reporting.

•Experience in the preparation and monitoring of financial reports, annual budgets and forecasts.

•Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills.

•Demonstrable experience in a senior finance role with direct contact and reporting responsibilities.

•Experience of contract/project accounting would be an advantage.
