The Finance and Commercialisation Team is a key part of Southampton City Council’s Strategy Hub. The team provide strategic, financial and commercial services and advice to ensure the council’s planning and operational activity is delivered in sustainable and cost-effective ways. We work in collaboration with operational teams and partners to ensure financial and commercial services deliver the agreed outcomes in our medium and long term financial strategies.

You will support and enable the delivery of high quality services to the residents, businesses and visitors to the city of Southampton. You are responsible for providing productive challenge, assurance and recommendations to senior leaders in Southampton City Council, in particular Service Directors, by ensuring the completeness and quality of financial information regarding strategic and transformational projects. This will include the development and updating of standard business modelling procedures to be utilised by the rest of finance including the analysis of financial risk and dynamic financial and non-financial benefit tracking to underpin strong financial performance.

The key focus for you will be providing strategic and financial decision support to strategic programme managers including reviewing the impact of medium term financial plans and financial governance. In addition the roles will lead the development and ensure the integrity of the financial systems and processes as well as managing and motivating a high performing team of Financial Analysts.

One of the posts will have a systems focus.
