Financial Controller

Cambridge, United Kingdom – Our client, a prestigious local employer is seeking to recruit a Financial Controller.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the development of financial knowledge and process discipline across the wider business with a focus on improving overall business performance and ensuring the finance team is effective in delivering support to match output to business needs. You will work with central finance teams to provide reporting, budget and forecast information that aims to exceed the required standard and will be responsible for the coordination and production of all periodical financial reporting information within the business unit and Group which will include preparation of statutory accounts for entities under direct control and management of the audit process.

As Financial Controller you will be responsible for developing a continuous improvement plan related to all business unit financial management and reporting and to ensure compliance with external reporting and tax regimes such as VAT for the entities that fall solely within the business unit. The Financial Controller will ensure that proactive cash management is given the same importance as profit targets and will ensure all balance sheet accounts are appropriately managed, controlled and reported.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong technical ability and ideally previous experience of long term contract accounting and reporting. You will be able to demonstrate a desire to drive continuous improvement to existing processes and will have the enthusiasm and proven leadership skills to improve accounting skills and knowledge within the team, the function and wider business.
