The Accountant is responsible for the following in relation to a set group of assets and if applicable the wider business:

* Production, integrity and assurance of the financial ledgers (sales accruals, operating costs and balance sheet)

* That all revenue is accounted for correctly, sales reconciliations and invoicing.

* Accurate and timely monthly financial reporting process providing robust financial reporting and explanations of any variances through a deep understanding of the performance of the assets and business.

* Engaging with and reporting to key stakeholders, both internal stakeholders e.g. Asset Management, O&M and shareholders, ensuring all deadlines are met and information is informative and accurate

* Production of Statutory financial statements, and liaison with the auditors as required.

* Calculation and preparation of official forecasts, Budgets and medium-term plans and subsequent submissions to our shareholders

* Forecasting of cash flow and including where necessary project financing loan interest calculations.

* All accounting, forecasting and tax compliance

* Initiating improvements to reporting and planning processes to achieve an efficient and effective reporting process

* That the same approach and methodology is used for common processes and that these are clearly documented

* Ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.

Deliverables:

* To be recognised as a point of reference and trusted source for financial information in relation to the set of business that they are responsible for.

* Empowered to take decisions necessary in the performance of the job purpose and key accountabilities for this role

* Expected to contribute to decisions related to changes in major processes or accountabilities made by the Operational Accounting Manager

* Liaise with specialist support and shareholder finance teams as required

Skills & Qualifications:

* Accounting qualification preferred. Several years' experience working in industry preferred.

* Experience of preparing statutory accounts

* Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to understand the key financial implications of a scenario, all the connections between different areas of activity, and their impact on each other

* Able to challenge the way things are done and look at ways to make improvements to the business

* Proficient IT skills (Spreadsheets, database, Visual basic)

* Knowledge of internal systems (SAP, BOFC)

* Able to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders including financial and commercial teams

* Strong attention to detail

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

* Ability to prioritise conflicting activities and be proactive

* Act with complete integrity and confidentiality

* Committed to continuous improvement and development of skills and knowledge

* Experience of the energy or services industry is desirable.
