Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this is a permanent opportunity with a strong emphasis on change management, specifically relating to the provision of financial management information.  In anticipation of the work which will be undertaken as part of the Durham DOES project, this role will support business as usual whilst planning for the future.  This role is supported by the Senior Finance Business Partner.

The role requires a strong people manager and change manager, with a strong emphasis on designing and running efficient processes, able to deliver results to tight deadlines.

 

Working with:

  • Business partnering team (own team)
  • Other colleagues within the Finance team
  • Finance staff within academic departments and other PS departments (not direct line reports)
  • Colleagues within the Strategic Planning Office (SPO), Computing and Information Services (CIS) and the operational efficiency project team (Durham DOES).

The main areas of focus will be around the production and delivery of financial and other related Management Information (MI) including:

  • Managing the business partnering team
  • Overseeing the production of monthly financial MI, quarterly reforecasting, budgeting and forecasting for all areas of the University
  • Mapping all current processes associated with production of financial MI, quarterly reforecasting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Designing and delivering workshops with other users and audiences producing and receiving financial MI
  • Understanding where and why shadow systems are used and developing standardised alternatives which can benefit all users of financial MI
  • Developing ‘to be’ processes, identifying where MI can be delivered via standard reports
  • Developing a road map for development within Finance of ePBCS, the tuition fee model and other related projects
  • Implementing ePBCS
  • Working with CIS to provide financial MI through an intranet solution
  • Leading and taking part in working groups in relation to systems changes and other University-wide change projects
  • Networking with external organisations, including other universities undertaking similar exercises
  • Preparing plans and papers for the University Executive
