As part of our ongoing growth strategy Shawbrook have a vacancy for a Head of Internal Audit to join the bank and lead the move from the current outsource model to a co-source model. The roleholder will be responsible for the design and implementation of the change and then will lead the function moving forward. Initial responsibilities of the role will include approval of the Internal Audit plan, the design of, recruitment and then management of the Internal Audit team, including oversight of quality of fieldwork, consistency of reports and the tracking of actions arising from internal audit reports.
The role holder will be responsible for the following:
- Ensuring the Internal Audit function and associated Internal Audit Plan as appropriate, challenges the customer facing areas of the Bank in accurately identifying customer behaviour and needs resulting in appropriate products and services being created and distributed, delivering fair customer outcomes.
- Monitoring the general market, economic and regulatory environment, asses how they will impact Internal Audit activity and the broader business strategy.
- Implementing strong standards and practice for the Internal Audit function in complying with the PRA/FCAs Statement of principles and Code of Practice and the IIA as appropriate.
- Reporting to the Board Audit Committee & the CEO on the performance against the agreed Internal Audit Plan.
- Reviewing and challenging planning processes and delivery of major investments or divestments, operational changes or major capital expenditure.
Suitable candidates will have the following experience:
- Strong academic background in a numeric discipline along with excellent knowledge of banking/financial services and risk-based auditing.
- Ideally a secondary degree in business or finance, or a member of the IIA.
- Excellent understanding of the standards of the IIA and ability to fully comply with IIA Standards.
- Strong capability in strategic thinking developing solutions thinking developing solutions and effective business planning.
- Understanding of risk appetite and risk frameworks.
- Demonstrable people and team management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at various levels.
