My Client, a large listed retailer is looking for a Group Reporting Manager to cover whilst a permanent candidate is recruited.

The role will be for 3-6 months and pay £400-£450pd.

Key accountabilities

Weekly Reporting

  • Review of the weekly Financial Headlines report used by the Operating Committee at the weekly trading meeting
  • Principal finance owner of the internal trading statement process and model - weekly review of the model and associated inputs and outputs
  • Accountability for the integrity of the data within the model and the model outputs

Monthly Reporting

  • Assistance in the preparation and review of the monthly management accounts
  • Key liaison with the finance teams across the business to analyse and report on the monthly results
  • Finance owner of treasury accounting across the Group with responsibility for review of all treasury and fx related financial accounting journals and inputs
  • Managing the IFRS 2 share based payment accounting throughout the year including review of forecasts and monthly journals (prepared by another team member) and acting as a business partner to the HR cost team and remuneration team throughout the year
  • Assisting with the monthly consolidation process including the review of journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ownership of the reconciliation process for tangible and intangible assets to sub-ledgers

Quarterly Reporting

  • Principal finance owner of the external trading statement process and model -review of the model and associated inputs and outputs
  • Accountability for the integrity of the data within the model and the model outputs

Half Year and Full Year Reporting

  • Assisting in the preparation of the Group Annual and Half Year financial statements, Annual Report and preliminary results announcements to the stock market including detailed review of relevant areas such as

fixed assets, share based payments, segmental reporting and financial instruments

  • Assistance with preparation of Audit Committee papers in relation to any finance issues and judgmental areas
  • Key point of contact at the manager level with the external audit team at year end, interim and other times during the year
  • Liaise with the Investor Relations team in respect of providing financial support for the preparation of the Investor presentation slides and speech and the press release and ensure the integrity of all financial data within the presentation and press release
  • Liaise with the Corporate Communications team in respect of providing financial support for the preparation of the front half of the Annual Report and to ensure the integrity of all financial data within the Report
  • with the Corporate Communications team

Other areas of focus

  • Key stakeholder and lead group finance representative on project teams for the implementation of new accounting standards (IFRS 9 and IFRS 16)
  • Provision of ad hoc technical accounting support to the business
  • Day to day management of the preparation of subsidiary statutory accounts
  • Assisting with timely resolution of ad hoc queries from Investor relations
  • Assisting in developing best practice procedures and improvements for both internal Group Finance processes and reporting processes and procedures across the wider Finance Group
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the Group Accounting Manual and the ongoing development of the methodologies and judgements guidance manual

Technical Skills

  • Big 4 qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years PQE and strong technical accounting skills
  • Previous experience in treasury accounting (either in audit or commercial) in a complex environment
  • Large plc experience required
  • Previous retail experience (either in audit or commercial) preferred but not essential
  • Good analytical skills and an ability to appropriately challenge
  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines as part of a small team at key times of year
  • Strong communication skills - needs to be able to respond directly to queries from Director of Group Finance and/or CFO and to liaise directly with senior audit team members
