Head of Commercial Finance

Following internal progression an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Commercial Finance to join this well known highly regarded brand. The role will be to act as Finance Business Partner to Business unit Managing Director and various operations managers within the division through the provision of full financial and commercial decision support, whilst also supporting and developing the commercial finance team.

Key responsibilities of the Head of Commercial Finance job will include:
-To forecast and help drive optimum financial performance within and in embedding a culture of Finance being a trusted business partner throughout the organisation
-Ensure visibility of market developments, the competitive situation with regard to strategy and financial performance indicators, scan the market for commercial opportunities
-Through strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, help to drive commercial improvements through the business.
-Maintain a Risks and Opportunities schedule against budgeted EBITA.
-Provide support and challenge to the various Operations Managers to ensure that they understand the drivers of performance and to proactively manage the operational cost base.
-Provide commercial and analytical support as required to any commercial tenders and projects, which may include acquisitions and disposals.
-Investment appraisal of commercial and operational proposals and subsequent monitoring to ensure delivery of expected benefits.
-Full responsibility for all MI production internal and external for these business units.
-Undertake benchmarking against competitors.
-Responsibility for preparing the monthly business review, exception reports and quarterly bridging statement.
-Pro-actively investigate variances in expected commercial performance, whether positive or negative, to identify the root cause and pro-actively inform and, as necessary lead in taking corrective action, pro-actively engaging colleagues from across the business.
-The role holder will be required to interpret financial and commercial data, market trends and customer demands and expectations. Decisions will be made that fundamentally affect the profitability and development of the business.

The Head of Commercial Finance will possess the following attributes/skills:
-Qualified accountant (5+ years PQE) with relevant experience of financial analysis and management reporting gained in a corporate environment.
-Experience of working in a business facing finance role and a pragmatic and adaptable outlook
-A good relationship builder, who is able to challenge and support colleagues from different functions in a constructive and effective manner.
-Good leadership and influencing skills, both verbal and written, with emphasis on achieving results and successful outcomes. Works in a collaborative and open way.
