Finance Director - Equity

My client, based in Knutsford Cheshire, is a highly successful, prestigious and multi-award winning Building Design/Contracting independent company, boasting a wide range of some of the highest quality bespoke Design and Build flagship Construction projects across the UK.

Due to the planned retirement of the MD (who initially joined as FD) within the next 3-5 years, he wishes to ensure the smooth and effective succession planning in achieving a generational shift by bringing on board his "right hand" high calibre FD who possesses the headroom potential to confidently be ready to step up to succeed him as MD within this managed time period and go on to successfully lead the company on the next stage of its exciting development over the next 15-20 years.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a highly commercial, top calibre FD who can clearly demonstrate "fast track" career progression in your career to date, including evidence of making a real personal impact in positively supporting top and bottom line profitable growth as part of the SMT of a similar Contracting Construction related profit centre business.

The initial FD brief will include:

• Develop a small and effective high performing Finance team, as well as ongoing improvement of operational and commercial systems and processes across the business.
• Play a proactive financial and commercial role in preparing successful bids and tenders and submission of clear and robust Contract documentation to ensure "no surprises" in terms of financial, operational and legal obligations and liabilities.
• Proactive management of current and future Contracts, liaising closely with Design, QS and on site Build Construction teams and also regular contact directly with clients to ensure the consistent and profitable on time and on budget delivery of bespoke design and build Contracts which also exceeds client expectations.
• Operate as first point of contact with all professional contacts - Bank, Auditors, Advisors, Legal, Tax, Insurance.
• Assume the role as the no1 figure-head of the business in the MD's absence with a view to  achieve the natural and seamless "passing on of the reins" in stepping up as the perm new highly respected MD in the medium term.

My client is prepared to pay the top market rate salary and equity package to attract the best high potential candidate, including a highly competitive basic salary for someone at this stage of their career plus significant annual bonus (c 50% of salary expected) plus Equity participation which will substantially increase as well as salary level on becoming MD in the medium term.
