Partner Financial are supporting the Chief Financial Officer of a Media organisation to identify the right individual for an Interim maternity cover for the position of Head of Commercial Finance. The organisation has doubled in size in the last two years via both acquisition and organic growth and they are looking for an ambitious and commercial individual who is looking to take ownership of the P&L for one the organisations key business units.  Due to the growth of the organisation it it is highly likely that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the organisation in a permanent capacity within one of the other business units within the group.

This particular role is ultimately responsible in partnering with the relevant Divisional CEO’s in driving growth whilst ensuring full financial control.  This position will provide the analysis and insight required to ensure the business makes the right commercial and strategic decisions, the position will be hands-on and responsible for developing all the processes and controls across the finance function to ensure the smooth running of the division.  The successful candidate will lead a small finance team and work closely with the CFO, Divisional CEO’s, Commercial Director & COO.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leadership of a small finance team
  • Partnering and offering insight to the Divisional CEO’s, Commercial Director, COO and Group CFO
  • Annual Budgeting and rolling reforecasts
  • Monthly management reporting for each business unit, including financial and non-financial KPI’s.  Ensuring local management have all financial information in order to maximise on business performance
  • Working capital management, paying particular attention to stock and driving cash generation
  • Appraisals for new publications, business opportunities and potential acquisition targets
  • Management and responsibility for the division’s finance and accounting function, ensuring that all internal and external reporting outputs are accurate and presented in a timely manner
  • Identify issues, trends, and opportunities and present this business information to senior executives in an effective, strategic manner
  • Presenting an analytical and insightful monthly board pack for the Group Board
  • Taking ownership of process improvement and upgrades across systems, reporting and month-end
  • Provide a link to the shared service centre
  • Managing relationship with external parties covering banking, insurance, external audit

The ideal profile for this opportunity will be qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with PQE within the media sector, you will be a commercially astute, hands-on and an influential leader.  The position is to start asap, and therefore it would be beneficial if an individual would be available to start immediately.
