Financial Controller

Based on the outskirts of Preston this company is a rapidly growing business in the £8-£10m turnover range. They have established themselves as a leading design and manufacturer contracting their services to major construction projects. They are now seeking to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to report directly into the MD and help drive the business forward. Duties for this role will include:

• Assist in implementing new accounting systems to better facilitate management of stock and work in progress
• Prepare monthly management accounts to report to Directors
• Assist in financial decision making
• Manage bookkeeper(s)
• Prepare and submit VAT returns
• Monthly payroll and auto enrollment
• CIS returns
• Ensure all control accounts reconciled, bank, VAT, PAYE etc
• Produce accurate supplier statements to directors to approve payment
• Prepare year end accounts file for external accountants

Central to this position will be the need to gain better understanding around work in progress (WIP), preparing financial forecasts and budgets to ensure accurate contract accounting and meaningful MI can be presented to the Directors. The position will involve a range of interaction with Commercial and Project Managers ensuring jobs are completed on time with maximum profitability. The ideal candidate for this role would preferably be a qualified accountant with a background in construction and / or manufacturing in a project / contract led environment.
