The opportunity has arisen for an aspiring Financial Controller to join Oakwood, a clear leader within the serviced apartments and corporate housing market, in a diverse role with excellent opportunity to add value to the wider business.

Details about the Client

Oakwood are a £50m T/O business now backed by Mapletree Investments, a Singaporean real estate firm with a keen interest on growing their business within the UK. Oakwood has a strong presence within the US and the UK where they have grown successfully over the last few years. Within their growth plans there is the requirement for a London based Financial Controller to take ownership for the day-to-day of the EMEA function and drive a business partnering culture.

Detailed Job Description

As the Financial Controller you will be joining a diverse team in a period of transition and be taking a lead role in a number of projects, as well as the day-to-day management of the finance function, and developing a business partnering culture. You will report into the CFO in the US and the EMEA MD in London. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for the EMEA region;
  • Producing accurate management information with relevant analysis to assess company performance;
  • Co-ordinate the annual budgeting process for EMEA;
  • Take a leading role in the development of the finance team including: training, recruitment, appraisals, etc.;
  • Act as a key point of contact for the annual audit;
  • Continually develop and look to improve processes and controls and lead on projects such as systems upgrades;
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested by senior management (e.g. investment appraisal support).

Candidate's Profile

As a strong applicant for the Financial Controller position you will:

  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong academic background;
  • Demonstrate a background in running the day-to-day of a finance function in a Finance Manager/Controller capacity;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the business, ideally showing a track record of business partnering and coaching;
  • Show a proactive approach to driving change and leading on projects.

What's on offer

The offer to the successful Financial Controller will be between £70,000-£80,000 depending on experience plus benefits including pension and private medical cover. You will also be in a high profile position within an active management team in the UK and have the platform to grow the role into a Finance Director position.
