This is an exciting opportunity to join a large Reading based European head office of a Life Sciences company which offers a broad range of experience. This newly created Statutory Accountant role will be responsible for maintaining best practice in the areas of Financial Control and reporting in the EMEA region for a designated group of countries and will work closely with the technical managers and general ledger accountants in the region.

With 36 countries in the EMEA region, the successful Statutory Accountant candidate will enjoy the variety and interest that working in a multi-country department brings. We are looking for a candidate who is confident in the area of audit and financial control, who also enjoys the broad area of tax compliance. The Statutory Accountant role will require analysis to ensure accuracy and to identify areas for process improvement.

The key responsibilities will be:

• Regular US GAAP to local GAAP reconciliations and query resolution
• Obtain and review sample data for SOX and internal audit
• Assist with Transfer Pricing and tax compliance including SAO and country by country reporting requirements
• Preparation and analysis of UK VAT return
• Preparation of UK statutory accounts
• Liaising with auditors and preparation of audit support for statutory audits
• Preparation of US tax packs
• Preparation of Research & Development claims

You will be a recently Qualified ACA Accountant who trained in the Audit department of an Accountancy Practice. Working in a large Finance team in Reading, the role would suit somebody looking for a varied, hands on role with the opportunity to develop their career in a rapidly evolving business.

You will have a strong audit and accounting background and you will be keen to expand your experience in all areas of tax.
