The Position

Retallack Resort is currently recruiting a Financial Controller to join our team, overseeing our busy finance department. As the Financial Controller you will manage a team of eight and be responsible for all accounting related activities. You will be confident and competent in your ability to not only run a tight ship on all business reporting, management accounts, and budgeting, but also be able to delegate duties to your supporting team.

Responsibilities

To work on all accounting related matters including;

  • Profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting
  • Managing cash, bank funding and reporting
  • Year End processes including annual statutory reporting, audit and tax
  • Purchase and sales ledger
  • Initiating and supporting improvement activities across the department
  • Maintaining good relationships with suppliers, customers, banks and external auditors
  • Payroll and VAT functions
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts and analysis of costs on an ongoing basis
  • Developing a strong understanding of the business model and the challenges that it will face and provide advice on how to manage this
  • Ad hoc reporting as required by management

The Person

  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Strong I.T skills, to include Microsoft Excel and Sage Line 50
  • Previous experience of managing a small team
  • Qualified ( CIMA, ACA, CFA or ACCA) is highly desirable, however we would consider part qualified candidates providing the above duties are demonstrable
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise business demands
  • Excellent problem solving and multitasking skills with the ability to stay calm in a pressured environment
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of staff​
