In addition the company also exclusively imports a selection of the world's finest independent family owned wine estates. As a sales & marketing agency Mentzendorff supplies this brand portfolio to all sectors of the UK Wine Trade including supermarkets, independent wine merchants, wholesalers, hotels & restaurants; whilst also engaging in consumer and trade marketing activity. 

Detailed Job Description

Financial Controller Role that reports into the Finance and Operations Director, responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Day to day custody of the Financial & Management Reporting Systems ensuring the Integrity and Accuracy of the data contained and Management of the monthly reporting process including the production of the Management Accounts and associated reports.
  • Manage the reporting requirements to our parent group based in Paris.
  • Management of the Finance Team.
  • A position on the Operations Board (Management Ctte) that meets monthly and where the FC would be expected to play an active role in the wider management of the company.
  • Development and maintenance of strong inter-departmental links with sales, commercial operations and brand management for all Financial matters.
  • Help to produce and submit the Annual Budget.
  • Responsible for the planning and management of the Annual Statutory Audit.

Candidate's Profile

Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with excellent financial reporting capabilities that can be evidenced through experience. This role heads up the finance team and experience of leading and developing a team is essential. In addition, improving and delivering accurate and timely management reporting to the wider business is crucial. In that regard experience manipulating and analysing data, reducing/changing reporting processes/timeframes, and being able to deliver financial information to non-finance are all essential. 

Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply but relevant commercial understanding would be beneficial as would an interest in wine and a desire to be part of a dynamic business at the centre of the vibrant Wine Trade. Knowledge of Microsoft Navision is preferred and French language skills would be beneficial.
