Senior Management Accountant

Anthony Cole Associates are proud to be once again partnering with the biggest business in the Sports/Retail/Gaming sector that has recently become one of the prestigious FTSE125. They are looking for a Senior Management to produce timely, accurate and insightful Management Accounting and Reporting.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Management Accountant includes:

• Ensure that the Management Accounts are delivered to reporting deadlines and are of a high quality with all key variances to comparatives analysed and communicated
• Key role in the production of a monthly finance pack to be distributed to all key senior stakeholders
• Take full ownership of selected Shop, Cost of Sales, Central and CAPEX cost areas (to be split between Senior Management Accountants)
• Ensure an end-to- end understanding of cost drivers and KPIs’s and deliver insightful analysis and commentary on all key variances to drive performance
• Including presentations to FD/FC/Procurement/Operations
• Budgeting/forecasting ownership of all relevant cost lines
• Ensure that all necessary accounting adjustments are posted each month and the divisions risk & opportunities and latest forecast is understood and closely monitored
• Ensure that relevant Balance Sheet reconciliations are properly controlled and reviewed to agreed deadlines with all reconciling items investigated and resolved promptly
• Ensure group reporting requirements are completed within required deadlines and to a high standard
• High quality presentations as part of planning processes explaining variances to comparatives and delivered to required group deadlines
• Support the FC/FD/CFO on merger, integration, systems implementation and ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required
• Take full ownership in the preparation of deliverables for the annual audit and be a key contact for the internal and external auditors during the audit process
• Ownership and management of the fixed asset register including CAPEX policies, WIP accounts and depreciation calculations
• Working with group finance on ERP systems to make continuous improvements and ensure best practise is driven across the business
• Manage and develop direct reports

Specialist Skills and Experience Required

• Experience of budgeting, planning and forecasting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flows)
• Strong technical skills (e.g. excel, macros, VBA etc…)
• Experience in using financial reporting tools such as SAP/Hyperion
• Experience in using accounting packages such as EBS/JDE
• Evidence of proactively re-engineering processes end-to- end
• Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate and lead effectively at all levels
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skill
• Strong technical accounting experience
• Well organised with ability to deal with multiples projects and priorities
• Ability to deliver continuously to tight timelines
• Proactive and tenacious with a history of achievement
• Resilient self-starter with a can do attitude
• Ability to develop and manage relationships effectively across the business
• Ability to demonstrate inspirational leadership skills whilst being a team player
• Strong demonstrable communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Ability to influence, coach and delegate at a range of levels
• Experience of building, managing leading and engaging high-performance teams with a strong track record of performance delivery

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with extensive experience business partnering with senior stakeholders and taking ownership of management accounting and reporting processes. You will also have strong technical skills, for example, Excel, Macros as well as financial reporting tools such as SAP/Hyperion.
