The Amazon Operations Finance team is seeking an ambitious and energetic Finance Manager to join the fast paced world of European Operations in our EU headquarters. We are not an average retailer and this is definitely not an average finance position. We will give you the opportunity to really make a difference to our business. The position will drive capex controlling of a specific region in EU, as well as identify, analyze and approve capital investment opportunities within the Fulfillment Center network. Will be responsible for the financial evaluation of alternative fulfilment solutions and projects (like third Party Logistics Providers) in the Amazon EU network, and bring key management information dashboards to the next level.

In order to achieve that, she / he will work with internal business partners at all levels of the organization - Operations and Retail. Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with supply chain and capacity , engineering and operations teams to drive process improvements and cost savings
  • Identify, communicate, and track high ROI capital projects through the approval process
  • Carry out and drive post-investment ROI calculations
  • Analyze the tradeoffs between capital expenses, Fulfillment Center expenses, and transportation cost
  • Prepare and lead Capital Budget Reviews, interacting with Senior Managers within Finance and Operations.
  • Work with facilities, IT and engineering teams to review and approve decisions
  • Perform monthly variance analysis versus plan and forecast risks and opportunities
  • Develop and publish key performance indicators and regular business metrics for CAPEX and third Party Logistics Providers
  • Proactively work with the business owners on root cause analyses and solution implementation
  • Evaluate and implement opportunities for improving capacity planning inputs, process, and modeling
  • Improve tools, processes, scale existing solutions, create new solutions as required based on stakeholder needs
  • Partner with various operations, IT, retail, and finance teams to support new business initiatives

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, Operational Research or other quantitative area or other degree with equivalent experience; an MBA or MSC Finance
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong attention to detail, and the ability to self-start and self-motivate.
  • Strong work ethic with a high customer service ethic.
  • A very self-motivated and flexible working approach.
  • Passion for working with people, positive thinking, creativity, fun on the job.
  • Advanced analytical skills and the ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big picture
  • Advanced skills in Excel is a must. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and presentation skills working with multiple peer groups and levels of management
  • Strong financial acumen including familiarity with accounting, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis
  • Strong analytical skills and detail-oriented, while also seeing and understanding the big picture
  • Strong bias for action, including the ability to juggle multiple priorities
