Newgate is a communications business specialising in Corporate, Financial Community Engagement, Brand and Public Affairs communications.

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Financial Controller who is excited about the challenge of working in a fast moving, high-growth environment, that is going through a period of change.

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer you will play a critical role in our development over the coming years.

You will be great at..

Hands on Financial Management

  • Being prepared to process invoices and closely manage budgets
  • Dealing with macro level strategy, whilst managing a small team.
  • Getting hands on work done and seeing this as a real contribution to the business and a great opportunity to get exposure to every area
  • Establishing and maintaining strong financial controls - alongside the group finance team
  • Understanding what is appropriate for the business now, and evolving with the business as it continues to grow
  • Creating and producing high quality financial information and MI.
  • Taking responsibility for all financial reporting for the Company and to the Group finance team on a monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc basis.

 Planning and Analysis

  • Support the Chief Financial Officer in overseeing capital allocation, liaising with business heads to determine forecasts and support strategic plans to ensure optimal utilisation of financial resources
  • You will report directly into the Company CEO, as well as the Group CFO

You will also:

  • Develop and produce MI that the business needs to monitor and analyse ongoing performance against company objectives. This will provide context and insight to decision makers throughout the business, up to Board level
  • Be constantly aware of the company’s financial position, so to be able to proactively report and move within an ever-changing company environment

Our Financial Controller will ideally have:

  • Prior Experience as a Senior Finance Manager or hands-on Financial Controller in a successful high growth business, dealing with key internal and external stakeholders
  •  3 + years post ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualification
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (focus on Excel)
  • Financial systems experience (Paprika and Group reporting software preferable)
