Athwal Resourcing is currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant within a small group of companies operating within a rapidly growing market. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a rapidly growing business, in a fast-pace and diverse role.

The role is very varied and requires an experienced, hands on Senior Accounts Assistant to reports into the Finance Manager. You will:

  • be responsible for sales ledger processing including inputting all invoices/credits, resolving queries and disputes and ensuring that Company protocols are strictly adhered to;
  • reconcile all statements to the relevant Sage account, investigating and resolving any discrepancies;
  • process supplier payment run weekly;
  • reconcile bank statements;
  • liaise with operational managers to ensure that receipts etc. reconcile to supplied schedules and investigate discrepancies;
  • collate attendance records and process payroll run (PAYE and sub-contract);
  • prepare monthly Inland Revenue payments and returns;
  • maintain accrual and prepayment schedules and post journals as appropriate;
  • maintain fixed asset schedules;
  • analyse and maintain overhead expenditure and generate monthly reports as required;
  • prepare and submit monthly VAT returns;
  • carry out other adhoc projects as required;
  • support other team members as the need arises.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ideally AAT qualified, or part qualified;
  • Previous experience in an accounts department with a solid understanding of the finance function and accounting processes, in particular sales and purchase ledger, is essential.
  • A solid understanding of 'book entries' will be required;
  • Previous involvement in management accounts production;
  • Experience with Sage or other accounting software package;
  • Be proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheets;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the business;
  • Have the ability to multi task and be able to cope with the pace of a volume driven busy accounts function;
  • Have excellent attention to detail.
