Axiom are recruiting for an exciting newly created role in a truly dynamic business in the Oxfordshire area going through rapid growth. The Group is private equity finance backed, circa £100M turnover, and has completed a number acquisitions in the last year, with more to follow. The business has enjoyed a strong track record of growth and is focussed on further growing its market position. 

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role encompasses both financial and management reporting, you will need to be a strong technical accountant but with commercial acumen and able to manage and run various projects autonomously.

Primary responsibilities involve providing technical and operational support within the Financial Control team as well as working with the FP&A Team to develop robust budgets and forecasts. You will be the bridge between finance and the commercial functions helping to bring more clarity and understanding to the management reporting, and get involved in accounting issues for acquisitions.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Work with the financial control team at month end to reconcile branch results and understand branch cost base and identify opportunities to optimise
  • Planning, preparation and co-ordination of budgets and forecasts relating to Branch costs, Group costs and Cashflow
  • Quarterly and annual covenant compliance reporting
  • Provide technical input to and review of statutory accounts
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors on technical matters relating to new acquisitions and assist where required on integration of new companies into the group structure
  • Technical input into various accounting policies such as capitalisation of project costs
  • Work with Group FC to develop processes for optimising cash management, deposits and hedging
  • Provide technical input to and review of statutory accounts
  • Support the Group FC on other ad-hoc matters including collapse of the existing Group Company structure, entity rationalisation and acquisition accounting

    Knowledge, Skills & Experience
    • Qualified accountant essential and evidence of commercial finance knowledge and experience within a strong control environment
    • Graduate with 2.1 or above and strong academic background
    • Able to influence through developing internal and external relationships at a senior level
    • Advanced excel skills

Working Relationships

  • The role reports to the Group Financial Controller but will work closely with the branch managers, marketing department, finance team and the group executive team, in a multi-cultural environment.
