About Our Client
With Headquarters in London and field offices in 12 countries worldwide, this charity is dedicated to delivering their vision to those in need. Their aim is to tackle poverty by developing innovative and sustainable solutions enabling communities to live in dignity and independence. They are currently working in 70 countries and have live appeals to support causes such as the Syrian Crisis, European Refugee Crisis and Iraq Emergency appeal, to name a few.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the finance team to set up a fit-for-purpose International Programme Finance function
- Create and maintain systems and processes which meet the highest standard of compliance for institutional donors, regulators and internal requirements
- Develop quality and insightful management information regarding all programme actitivies
- Guide, train and build capacity at the country offices ( approx 5 trips a year to field offices)
- Carry out financial risk assessments of the Programme to identify financial risks and ensure any recommendations are implemented
- Manage the financial processing relating to field offices, giving guidance on systems, ensuring controls are in place and that there is a fit for purpose manual that is up to date and adhered to
Preferred Skills:
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA)
- Minimum 2 years post qualification experience
- Experience of multi-currency accounting and reporting
- Experience of conducting field visits for the purpose of monitoring and evaluation
- Experience of creating systems and fit for purpose processes
- Extensive knowledge of technical operating principles, practises and problems of governmental accounting, INGO accounting, budget control, procurement, collection, licensing, insurance claims and payroll administration procedures
- Experience of supporting the financial elements of institutional donor programmes such as ECHO, EC, UN etc
Personal Attributes:
- Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills
- Highly computer literate with knowledge of Excel, MS Office and financial software - MS NAV desireable
- Foreign Language skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines
- Ability to understand complex financial and written information accurately
- Experience leading a finance team
