Family Housing Association are a dynamic Registered Social Landlord based in the heart of Swansea.

Family Housing Association have over 2800 homes and have been supporting people and communities across Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Neath and Port Talbot, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire for 42 years.

As well as General Needs Housing, the Association provides a wide range of housing solutions for single people, families, older people and people who need support to maintain their tenancy.

The Association has formed partnerships with a wide range of statutory and voluntary organisations to provide specialist housing and support services for:-

  • Homeless people
  • People with disabilities
  • Women with support needs
  • Young vulnerable people
  • Young people leaving care
  • People with learning disabilities
  • People with unsettled backgrounds
  • People with mental ill health
  • Older people with care & and support needs

The Association has formal agreements in place with these organisations; however the majority of their specialist schemes are directly managed by the Association.

Detailed Job Description

The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in The Association. The role is part of the Operational Management Group which together with the Executive Team has collective accountability for ensuring that the Association provides excellent services to both tenants and the community whilst successfully delivering against its business growth agenda.

Key responsibilities will include;

Lead the development and implementation effective, timely business service support & reporting across the association including:-

  • preparation of monthly management and departmental accounts and associated information and reports
  • lead in the preparation of the financial budget, cash flow forecast and other management reports
  • prepare financial appraisals for property assets and development schemes
  • liaise with and support colleagues and teams to produce analyses of expenditure against various sources of grant income & assist them in monitoring under or overspend for returns to funding bodies
  • oversee monthly payroll processing, reconciliation and reporting
  • maintain a structured and coherent chart of accounts and update all staff of changes as necessary
  • investigate variances between actual costs and budgets
  • agree loan balances with information provided by lenders
  • lead in the production of draft statutory accounts for the Association and any clients within agreed timetables
  • lead preparation for, oversee and assist the Association's auditors (internal and external auditors) in order to ensure a smooth audit
  • ensure the Association accounts for Tax & VAT accurately and in accordance with legislation and ensure timely, accurate returns to HMRC
  • manage contract with external ICT service support provider, acting as the key contact between the Association

Candidate's Profile

The Finance Manager will be;

  • Fully Qualified accounts recognised CCAB (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) 
  • Min 3 years post qualification experience
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP legislation and good practice, including FRS102 and Housing SORP2014 
  • Experience of leading and managing a finance team covering all aspects of transactional and reporting framework
  • Strong supplier relationship management 
  • Experience of managing out-sourced services, in particular ICT
  • Experience of managing payroll

What's on offer

Basic Salary circa £40,000 - £41,000 (subject to ongoing pay review)
