Assistant Accountant - Chorley, Salary DOE

A leader in its field, this successful and acquisitive business is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to join their team at their base in Chorley. The business is part of a much larger global group.

As a key member of the Finance function, you will support the Finance Manager in delivering the agreed business plans. The Assistant Accountant plays an active role in supporting the management decision making process within the business. A sharp eye for detail and providing further insight to improve the business are key attributes.

The role is varied and duties will range from:

  • Help prepare financial statements and accounts,
  • Budgets and forecasts,
  • Monitor actual versus estimated expenditure levels,
  • Managing ledgers,
  • Processing invoices and VAT returns.
  • Develop close working relationships with internal customers to fully understand the business and how Finance/IT can best meet their needs.
  • Assist the Finance Director/ Finance Manager at busy periods such as year-end or on project related work.

The successful candidate will be:

  • ACCA or CIMA trainee or AAT qualified with at least 2 years post qualification experience.
  • Previous experience in a finance role desirable.
  • Good IT skills (particularly MS Excel).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated starter, able to instigate and manage change.
  • Ability to work flexible hours & under pressure to tight time-scales.
  • Good sense of humour, with the ability to create and maintain excellent communication between different stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel up to 50% (Within UK & Ireland)
  • Self-motivated and energetic willing to study for a qualification.
