Our client is one of the UK's most recognisable brands who provide an impressive array of products and services to the consumer markets. A sustained period of success and the acquisition of a number of competitor businesses throughout 2015 and 2016 has paved the way for the business to bolster their finance team in 2017 with the introduction of a Finance Manager to drive business improvements, core reporting and key financial projects.

This is a high profile position where you will take responsibility for core accounting and reporting for a number of subsidiaries as well as leading and assisting with group wide tasks. The role will provide internal and external financial reporting to agreed deadlines, as well as providing guidance and support for operational and finance leaders in ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities will include:-

  • Ownership of the group's consolidation including responsibility for changes to the consolidation system to ensure the system is robust and supports the group's structure as it continues to evolve
  • Ensuring that month end reporting is accurate, on time and in line with group accounting policies and relevant accounting standards
  • Investigation of variances (e.g. to budget and prior month/year) in month end results with a view to understand the underlying business trends
  • Assistance in writing and delivery of periodic accounting/process
  • Writing comprehensive technical accounting papers suitable for submission to the board and external auditors
  • Preparation of annual group and subsidiary entity statutory accounts
  • Day to day point of contact for auditors in interim and year end audit process
  • Day to day management of Group Reporting Accountant, including coaching and development
  • Support ad-hoc projects

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA), ideally trained in practice with a proven track record of management/ financial reporting. You must be a leader, with a hands on, proactive mind-set and the ability to influence key decision making. Knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and corporation tax would be highly desirable and give you a distinct advantage.
