This is a fantastic opportunity for any aspirational, qualified Finance Manager to progress their career and become the Finance Director of a UK wide consultancy business. Reporting into the Managing Director, the successful candidate will have overall responsibility for the financial operations of a growing multi-site consultancy. My client is looking for somebody they can develop, who can grow with the business and transition into the role of Finance Director, the rate at which this happens would be absolutely down to the candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the financial management and financial control of the business.
  • Prepare month end and year end management accounts consisting of profit and loss, balance sheet, and cashflow statements with supporting analysis and commentary against relevant budgets and KPIs to a defined reporting timetable.
  • Liaise with external accountants, bank, and other relevant professional advisers to support the process of producing and maintain statutory accounts, tax reporting and submission (CT, VAT, and PAYE), and any other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support the process of preparing annual budgets, appropriate reforecasts and longer term business forecasts.
  • Manage the internal accounting function, ensuring invoicing process is completed accurately and timely, ensuring purchase ledger is accurate and controlled with suppliers paid according to terms, and ensuring bank reconciliations are carried out diligently and frequently.
  • Produce a monthly KPI pack and support departmental heads with relevant management information.
  • Day to day management of a Liverpool based Bookkeeping team
  • Contribute to the overall business management as a member of the leadership team including but not limited to attending of weekly operational, monthly strategic and supporting quarterly Board meetings.

Skills and Experience:

  • Professionally qualified (CIMA/ ACCA / ACA or international equivalent) - Unfortunately QBE will not be considered.
  • 2+ years team management experience
  • Motivated self starter and capable of working unsupervised
  • Commercial aptitude to support business growth
  • Sage accounts software experience
  • Full driving license as some travel will be required, predominantly between Manchester and Liverpool

Compensation package

  • Up to £40,000 basic salary
  • 31 days holiday, rising to 35 with service
  • 5% employer pension contribution.
