SF Group are currently recruiting for a Governance and Compliance Manager with our Birmingham public sector client. This is a newly created post where you will ensure that the organisation have excellent governance controls in place which are apart of working practices and that board time is used effectively in decision making supporting the CEO. You will provide secretariat service to stakeholders and be able to advise on governance questions and matters.
Your role will include working with SLT and prepare minutes, agendas, follow up on conclusions and be able to line manage junior staff. Furthermore, the role will entail ensuring paperwork is prepared before meetings and and arrange the Board and be a good key contact for a number of stakeholders. You will attend and produce timely minutes and work effectively across the organisation.
Ideally you will have strong experience of Board and/or committee secretariat duties.You will have good knowledge of legal requirements and practices in governance and being able to work autonomously. There will be focus on legal and regulatory compliance and ensuring there is a consistent approach in how governance is promoted internally and externally.
You will lead on documenting the policies and procedure guidelines ensuring all senior stakeholders have the resources available to make educated business decisions. There will be general administration duties, such as minute taking, so applicants will be prepared to have full involvement in the end to end governance process.
The suitable candidate will have charity/public sector experience, be highly literate and be confident is acting as the focal point for all governance related questions. You will have had held a similar or senior post within the sector and understand the fluid challenges of working with the Board and charity trustees.
