EMEA CFO 

Eton Bridge Partners are exclusively supporting a leading international construction business in their search for a new CFO for their UK and EMEA operations. With a track record of designing and constructing iconic pioneering structures across the globe, this multinational business is one of the leading lights in the construction sector, with a vibrant culture and a strong track record of growth.

The EMEA CFO is responsible for ensuring the overall effective financial management and reporting for the UK and European business. As a key member of the Executive Team, the EMEA CFO will play an active role in the financial planning and strategic direction of the business. The position reports into the Global CFO, and has regular interaction with key investors.

Strategy/ Leadership

Contribute fully to the development of the EMEA and UK company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers. Play an active role in forward planning and day to day operations including business planning, policy setting, financial forecasting and strategic decision making. Monitor and control the quality and cost-effectiveness of services provided by the Finance and Accounts Payable departments to ensure high standards and value for money. To effectively manage the performance of the team by carrying out performance reviews and regular 121’s ensuring objectives and key outputs are cascaded throughout the department. Ensure that each team member has an active development plan in place to drive outperformance and to enable career development and internal succession planning.

Accounting

Responsible for the effective and timely financial reporting of the region in accordance with IFRS and audit requirements. Responsible for the annual audit and quarterly reviews of region, including audit planning, monitoring progress and expenses, and reviewing presentation of findings. To provide effective evaluation and commentary on financial agreements ensuring the businesses interests are secured. Considering effects of partner agreements, recommends structural changes to contracts, guarantees; bonding and letters of credit. Prepares and presents financial information during quarterly reviews.  Gathers information on objectives and budget activities, summarizes key points, trends and concerns for the CEO. Ensure proper maintenance of financial records and compliance with finance and accounting standards, regulatory guidelines and reporting requirements. Ensure that the financial systems meet the highest standards, and provide financial information to inform strategic financial analysis and decision-making.

Treasury / Cash Management 

Ensure efficient management of bank accounts and cash on hand. Responsible for timely and effective cash forecasting. Understanding the cash flow implications of potential business changes and ensure that they are included in evaluating options. Oversee bonding process including the tracking and release of sub-contractor bonds, ensuring all needs are satisfied. Administer letters of credit as required. 

Payables/Payroll

Responsible for regional accounts payable team oversight ensuring that sub-contractors and all suppliers are paid in a timely and efficient manner. Responsible for final payment approvals to subcontractors. Effective and thorough sign off of monthly payroll in accordance with internal procedures and audit requirements.

Analysis

Analytical variance explanations to the regional CEO to support sound decision making and financial planning. Providing insight into monthly risks and opportunities for the region. Responsible for the early identification and mitigation of project specific financial risks and assessing the impact of project risks and opportunities including program changes. Prepare forecast and track consolidated monthly financials to forecast and perform variance analysis. Responsible for coordinating the annual business plan process, mid quarter forecasts and last month forecast. Perform variance analysis from business plan to forecast to actual results. Co-ordinate and assist in the preparation of regional board and management presentations. Responsible for financial risks associated with new contracts, through regional credit committee participation. Responsible for subcontractor and client credit reviews and analysis of subcontractor financial performance

Attributes and Experience

Due to the nature of the role, we are only looking to speak with candidates from the construction or related sectors. You must have demonstrable expertise in strategic financial planning, financial management and cash flow management. We are considering candidates who are have either held no.1 positions in medium sized construction businesses, or those who have held a divisional FD/CFO position within a similarly large multinational construction business.
