A global education business based in Milton Keynes are looking for a Group Financial Accountant. As a key member of the Group Financial Reporting team the position holder will be involved in all aspects of group financial accounting and reporting matters.

 

The Group Financial Accountant will perform and review group consolidations and related schedules and work closely with the Head of Group Financial Reporting on technical areas including specific technical projects required for changes to IFRS accounting policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review of monthly reports prepared by Head Office Accounting Assistant
  • Production and delivery of consolidated monthly reports for review by the Senior Group Financial Accountant
  • Maintenance of month end consolidation model and related journal postings
  • Review and sign off all intercompany invoicing/processing
  • Authorisation of Head Office Accountant journals
  • Working with the Senior Group Financial Accountant on the production and delivery of the quarterly and annual reports for review by the Head of Group Financial Reporting to the agreed standard and timetable
  • Ensure the regional teams deliver all quarterly information in a timely manner to ensure meeting quarter end deadlines
  • Investigating, responding to and resolving queries arising from the quarterly and annual review process
  • Developing, documenting and maintaining a quarterly and annual reporting routine process, ensuring that all information prepared is accurate and consistent prior to review
  • Production of supporting documents and ad-hoc queries and requests relating to quarterly reporting
  • Preparation of the consolidated group statutory financial statements
  • Manage the preparation and delivery of the UK statutory accounts including those for Group Holding Companies and UK operating entities
  • Manage and review the preparation of UK company audit deliverable files
  • Responsible for ensuring group audit adjustments are appropriately posted and for managing the group reserves position for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting
  • Assist the Head of Group Financial Reporting in group wide technical projects to include review and implementation of new IFRS accounting standards e.g. revenue recognition and lease accounting
  • Manage communication, data collation and collection on large technical projects
  • Provide Head of Group Financial Reporting with weekly updates on technical projects to include key milestones and points of judgement
  • Assist with the implementation of new IFRS accounting policies and related procedures around the group
  • Provide technical support to regions using group policies and procedures
  • Identify and communicate areas where group policies and procedures require preparing or updating.
  • Work with the Head of Group Financial Reporting to ensure that IFRS policies and procedures are kept up to date
  • Assist in the provision of information and communication with external parties for valuations of buildings and share based payment schemes
  • Work with the regions to ensure quality and consistency of data between financial statements prepared around the group
  • Assist in the development of the qualitative aspects of group financial statements including directors report, risk and financial instrument disclosures
  • Take an active role in the financial reporting and consolidation aspects of the new general ledger/financial system implementation project

About you

  • Qualified Accountant, with a preference for ACA
  • Minimum 3 years PQE with hands on experience of group financial reporting and statutory consolidation
  • Must come from a top 20 firm with at least 1 year PQE earned at the firm.
  • The person will preferably have trained and qualified in an audit environment
  • Must be able to demonstrate some technical financial reporting experience
  • Experience of working with consolidations using multiple currencies
  • Strong IT skills in all Microsoft products
  • Good technical accounting skills including reporting under IFRS
  • Experience in Group consolidation including multicurrency
  • Good financial reporting experience including preparation and review of IFRS and UK GAAP financial statements
