Hays Accountancy & Finance are currently being retained by a leading and global engineering organisation based in Cheltenham to recruit for an dynamic Assistant Accountant. A hands-on and varied role reporting into the Senior Management Accountant and supporting the Finance Manager on a 12-month contract. Your new role

Your key duties will involve assisting in the production of monthly management accounts, quarterly forecasts and budget preparation. You will maintain accruals and deferral calculations, update fixed asset register, prepare journals for posting and set up product costings. You will assist in financial analysis including sales, overheads, profitability and KPI's to produce relevant reporting along with working with data integrity processes on ERP systems. You will have involvement in ad-hoc financial projects and assist in improving processes/procedures for the organisation, supporting the Senior Management Accountant and Finance Manager.

What you'll need to succeed

For this fast-paced and hands-on Assistant Accountant role you must have experience within a similar position with strong commercial/business awareness and strong communication skills to communicate effectively with finance and non-financial bodies. Ideally you will be part-qualified ACCA/CIMA however finance professionals who are AAT qualified or qualified by experience will still be considered. Strong Excel skills are essential (pivots/lookups) with a key problem solving mind-set, it would be advantageous if you have experience in CRM/ERP systems and have worked in an global engineering business previously.
