Divisional Head of Finance role for FTSE100 business in Berkshire!

£80,000 - £85,000 + Package

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a qualified finance professional looking to take their career to the next level. Applying expert knowledge and experience to drive the business forward as Head of Finance of a market leading division within a FTSE 100 organisation in Reading.

In this leadership role, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the newly established centralised finance team with the main focus of the role being financial controls improvements, managing general accounting activities including both management and statutory reporting and driving efficient service delivery.

Successfully delivering in this high-profile position will involve:

• Team Leadership; effectively leading a broadly skilled finance team (15-20 reports) across 4-5 Business Units in a highly technical, operational accounting environment.
• Oversee at segment level the period end close and reporting process supporting the General Accounting team with expert knowledge of financial and management accounting.
• Oversee at segment level the timely review of P&L and Balance Sheet control account reconciliations.
• Management reporting, using strong knowledge of the business and judgement to support the General Accounting team with high level commentary prior to review by the Business Partner.
• Statutory Reporting using expert technical knowledge and a high degree of judgement, provide a final review of the statutory accounts at a business unit level.
• Timely completion of the budgets and forecasts and support the Business Partner Lead during the process.
• Project Work; provide accounting support for specific project related activities.
• Supporting the Business Partner team, Group Finance, and Financial Operations management teams to identify and implement initiatives and opportunities e.g. process improvements.
• Continued Compliance maintaining an effective control environment at segment level and respond to breaches/weaknesses.

The successful candidate will be:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience in an operational finance role with exposure to issues of similar complexity.
• A University level degree or equivalent.
• Experience of working for a FTSE listed business in a changing environment.
• Experience of delivering a continuous improvement agenda and adaptable to changing objectives and priorities to deliver results.
• A natural leader that can drive engagement and develop, motivate and lead a large diverse team.
• Strong knowledge of core financial systems is essential, as well as both general and management accounting procedures.
