The Inventory (Supply-Chain) Accountant, is an important role within the Supply Chain Function, whose responsibility is the Budgeting, Procurement and Reporting of the Materials and Logistics Expenditure exceeding $130m pa, but with particular emphasis on the reporting on Inventory at several locations which exceeds $50m at peak.

A international engineering company with an instantly recognisable global brand, you will join the Supply-Chain finance team based in Bristol. You will work closely with the Finance Director and provide analysis and reporting, as well as partnering with the operational side of the business including wharehousing, distribution and logistics.

A really great team, in a growing international business, you will have experience of management reporting with emphasis on stock, inventory and supply-chain finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Weekly and Monthly Inventory Reports , by Location/Product Group etc, in GBP and USD, with variances to Plan etc
  • Preparation of Month End Journals relating to Inventory, COGs and other Logistics items, within tight deadlines
  • Review Inventory Transactions to ensure accuracy of records - report on any variances or exceptional items
  • Report and monitor Cyclical Counts, investigate large variances. Play a major part in the Full Physical Count Process
  • Undertake Inventory Aging Analysis - review adequacy of provisions for accounting purposes and to assist Management in strategies to reduce Aged Inventory
  • Budget and Report on Materials/Services purchased in respect of Goods for Resale, analysing variances - study margins , identify exceptional items and bring to management's attention
  • Ensure compliance with SOX procedures that impact Inventory - maintaining records of support and highlihjting any potential weknesses or exceptions to Management
  • Budget and Report on Logistics Expenditure - the main items being Freight In , Freight Out  and Labour (including Temp Labour needs) - review variances, identify exceptions, continually review and look for Operational savings and efficiencies
  • Provide Decision Support  analysis to suport the Logistics, Supply Chain and Sales Teams
