We are seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Accountant to join our finance team based in Hammersmith London on a 12 month fixed term basis.
This role is based within our EMEA Shared Services Centre and will support the EMEA Compliance Managers with financial and Disney controls matters. This is a great fixed term opportunity to work within EMEA Compliance, a function reporting into the EMEA VP and Controller, within the EMEA headquarters of The Walt Disney Company. The role provides considerable scope for learning and career progression, and you will have regular exposure to Disney management.
The ideal candidate will be qualified or finalist level at the Senior Accountant grade, or you will be at the Accountant grade and ready for the next step in your career. Applicants are not required to have had direct experience of all of the areas listed below and comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
Main duties
- The intercompany royalty calculations (Brand, IP Contributions, Sequel charges) and payments (Operating Fees and Parent Company Share) between EMEA, UK and US entities
- Quarterly financial reporting and Disney controls reporting (including Sarbanes-Oxley)
- Ad-hoc financial projects, often working with Tax, Treasury and Global Controllership
- Supporting the Shared Service Centre and EMEA controllership teams with financial and Disney control matters. This is not a statutory accounts preparation role, however from time to time you may provide support in that area.
Specific elements
- Assist in all aspects of the preparation, validation and reporting of Intercompany royalties (Op Fee charges between UK legal entities, US legal entities and EMEA legal entities).
- Prepare Quarterly EMEA Balance sheet variance analysis for review by Shared Services Centre Director
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley by taking part in/taking a lead role in organising annual SOX testing. Assist with EMEA Internal Control Matrix risk rankings, process narratives and control descriptions
- Assist with ad-hoc Tax, Treasury, Global Controllership, EMEA VP Controller-led projects
- Assist with EMEA responses to the Corporate Minimum Control Standards Program by liaising with stakeholders across EMEA.
- Prepare Quarterly Rep letter templates for EMEA distribution and co-ordinate responses from territories
- Prepare supporting schedules for ad-hoc external audit deliverables – supporting Shared Service Centre, EMEA controllership
- Work with EMEA Compliance Manager, EMEA Compliance Manager and Compliance Intern to provide account reconciliation oversight and support within EMEA Shared Service Centre
- Support EMEA Compliance team intern with certain day-to-day queries
- Identify and drive areas of improvement within current processes with the aim of maintaining the current high standard of service provided in a more efficient manner
Experience:
- Finalist/Fully Qualified ACA/CIMA/ACCA
- Strong experience of data analysis
- Strong educational qualifications including Accounting work experience
- Strong excel skills important
- SAP experience preferred
- Company accounting experience is preferred
