An exciting opportunity has arisen within a well-respected and vibrant Charity based in the heart of London, that is currently looking for a qualified Business Partner to join its dynamic finance team.

 

Reporting to the Head of Financial Management Services in a Partnering team of 10, as part of a wider finance department in excess of 50 staff, the main purpose of the role is to act as the Finance Business Partner to the nominated directorate(s), providing expert support and advice to senior management by being an integral part of the management team, advising and supporting on financial decision making, preparing analysis and management reports and providing budgeting advice. The role will supervise the activities of 2 junior finance partners.

 

Duties:

  • Being integral to and providing strong support to the emerging charitable strategy.
  • To challenge the directorates to take the best decisions for the organisation, taking into
    account the financial impact, most effective use of resources and corporate strategic
    objectives.
  • Build strong relations and provide a single point of contact for the Directors and
    senior management that you support on financial issues, providing financial reporting
    and management information and signposting as appropriate to specialist finance
    functions.
  • Provide analysis and scrutiny of financial outcomes and other indicators of business
    performance to inform decision making.
  • Review management accounts and commentary monthly to provide consolidated
    view for your directorates. Act as a point of contact for any escalations from your
    team with regards to risks and opportunities.
  • Work with the Associate Finance Business Partners to manage the directorate(s)
    long term financial framework and annual budgeting process.
  • Provide strong proactive support into strategy development, working closely with
    senior management and the strategy team to ensure this is costed appropriately.
  • Provide financial support to all relevant projects / strategies by providing analysis,
    expert advice and robust challenge as required. Be a proactive member of all
    relevant programme and project groups.
  • Lead, manage, develop and motivate your team. Ensuring robust management and
    supervisory practices are undertaken. Provide opportunities to develop both technical
    and business partnering skills. Ensure consistency of approach to budget holders
    across directorate.
  • Work closely with other areas of finance to provide a joined up approach across the
    department. Work on cross finance initiatives as required and contribute to the
    development of improved financial systems and ways of working. In liaison with the
    Head of FMS, Director of Finance, act as the finance representative responsible on
    key projects, as needed.

Requirements:

  • Qualified CIMA, ACA or ACCA (or equivalent)
  • Strong business partnering experience - building and maintaining relationships and influencing across a variety of stakeholders, including senior directors.
  • A background of working in the charity sector is desirable, but not essential
  • Experience of working in a medium to large organisation with a complex structure is essential
  • Experience of supporting (including costing) high level organisational strategy.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skill
  • Flexible approach to work and an ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Financial modelling and report writing experience - Advanced excel skills required
  • Staff supervision experience highly desirable but not essential
  • Strong team working skills
