Assistant Accountant - Part Qualified

THE COMPANY:

Brewster Pratap are recruiting a part qualified Assistant Accountant for a well established Sheffield based organisation. Established over 100 years they are a leading specialist in their field. Close to the motorway they are commutable from Barnsley, Rotherham and Chesterfield.

THE JOB:

The main purpose of the role is to provide support to the Company Accountant and small finance team. Duties will include:

Checking and releasing of purchase ledger invoices and assisting the Company Accountant with the purchase ledger monthly close down
Assisting with the sales ledger monthly close down.
Ensuring accurate and timely coding and processing of weekly engineers timesheets
Posting journals
Updating the overtime, oncall and other registers.
Ensuring expenses are posted accurately
Ensuring company credit card expenses are coded, authorised and processed
Assisting with the company car scheme to update records and any payroll changes
Stock control
Assisting with maintaining records for import and export to current legislation and Intratstat
Processing customs / import instructions and have a good understanding of UK, EU and ROW VAT requirements to current HMRC legislation
Nominal ledger reconciliations and analysis as requested
Assisting the Company Account with tasks as requested and to complete as it is explained to you and if you are unsure, you will seek guidance and clarification where required
Any other duties, which may be appropriate to fulfil the present and future needs of the business.


The successful candidate will be studying towards a professional qualification (ACCA / CIMA)
Good IT skills required including Excel (Pivot Tables / Macro's, V Look ups)
You will self-motivated, organised, diligent and able to work to deadline and under pressure at times
You will be able to work within a small team of people and have a supportive and flexible attitude
