Elevation Accountancy & Finance are currently recruiting for a Commercial Accountant for a major distribution business in central Wakefield.
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Commercial Accountant will produce actionable analysis and data to drive strategic decisions and company direction.
The Commercial Accountant will be responsible for providing a forecasting, accounting and analytical service for sales and margin. The role covers a Multi Depot Distribution function in addition to a Production Operation.
Duties and responsibilities:
-Produce regular daily/weekly/monthly reports on sales and margin to enable the business to monitor output and track performance against budget, targets and prior periods in order to inform decisions and determine corrective actions where necessary
-Work alongside the Financial Controller to produce the monthly management accounts pack and supporting schedules
-Produce ad hoc reports to further analyse sales and margin, often requiring own initiative to address both general and specific queries and offer own observations on performance
-Work alongside the Finance Director to determine the annual budget
-Budgetary control of various aspect of product revenues and costs
-Control supplier contributions towards loans provided to customers, ensuring customer loan criteria is satisfied
-Monitor margin on a real time basis incorporating both new customer pricing and existing customer sales price amends
-Monitor invoiced product prices from both main and alternative suppliers
-Manage retrospective discounts and trade overriders receiveable from suppliers ensuring that they are recorded accurately on the product database and correctly reflected in the profit and loss and balance sheet reports
-Liase with external suppliers' account managers to ensure earnings correspond to volumes purchased and scheme criteria and payment is received to terms
-Maintain accurate records on supplier support claims, calculate period claims based upon purchase volumes, work closely with the Commercial team
-Account for promotional income and various supplier claims
-Validate the company stock valuation
-Promote a commercial understanding throughout the business, coach colleagues to generate own reports using recently implemented reporting tools
-Continually seek to improve process and system enhancements
This will be a varied and fast paced job role which will require you to manage a busy workload and prioritise to ensure deadlines are met.
Elevation Senior Finance would be keen to speak with candidates with the following skills and experiences:
-ACCA / CIMA qualified
-Experience of working in a dynamic environment, requiring a flexible mentality with emphasis on using own initiative. Manage own workload including ad hoc requests from various sources with short and often conflicting timescales for completion
-Experience of a manufacturing / production operation for product costing, capacity analysis and operational efficiency
-Experience of working in a wholesale environment preferred but not essential
-Proven business partnering experience with the ability to communicate at all levels within the business including Director, Sales Manager, Sales Executive, Production and Operations staff
-Strong analytical and presentation skills with excellent knowledge of excel and report generation.
