About the role:

Cambridge University Press are looking for a Business Finance Analyst to support the Commercial Finance capability to the Journals business, measuring and analysing the performance of the business, acting as a trusted adviser to the commercial finance team by supplying analysis, insight, commentary and recommendations on commercial performance, business planning and financial control.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To perform a monthly review of the Journals management accounts, discussing variances with the business and subsequently providing a commentary to be used in the Press board report.
  • Assist the budget process for Journals, from development of the timetable, collation of data from the business in accordance with the timetable, review the budgets with the business and then delivery to the central finance teams in the required formats
  • To assist editorial teams in preparing financial documents for contract tendering, any other ad hoc requests such as budget, reforecast and cash flow advancement review.
  • Helping to improve Journals profitability by reviewing existing financial data, working with the business to develop and model new initiatives and subsequently monitor the impact of these initiatives on our profitability

About you:

You will be part or newly ACCA/CIMA/ACA/overseas-equivalent qualified with strong excel knowledge. A background including experience within a mid/top tier public accounting practice and/or a commercial finance role of a large multi-national group will be an advantage. You will be a good communicator with personal presence and good written communications skills as well as an analytical thinker able to identify trends and issues, with the curiosity, courage and acumen to challenge results and find solutions.
