We have a job vacancy for a Financial Accountant.  Reporting directly to the Trust’s Head of Finance, the Financial Accountant will encompass aspects of finance for all of the Trust’s Academies and its Central Services in order to ensure consistency and best practice is developed and maintained across the function. The successful candidate will proactively drive the ongoing improvement of business practices and performance across the Trust.

 Financial Accountant specification

General

  • Attention to detail and appreciation of need for accuracy when dealing with complex tasks
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and use initiative to solve problems with achieve deadlines
  • Ability to work with integrity and discretion in an environment with high levels of confidentiality
  • A good communicator who can work well within a team
  • Skilled in the use of ICT especially Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Reliable and punctual individual who can react to changing circumstances
  • Willingness to embrace new challenges and work outside comfort zones
  • Ability to be hands on but also able to work on strategic projects
  • Be prepared for occasional travel between Company sites
  • Knowledge of the Education sector and experience of PS Financials desirable

Finance

  • Ability to prepare month-end and year-end reconciliations
  • Good numerical skills
  • Experience of carrying out control account reconciliations and invoice processing
  • Appropriate advanced level accountancy qualification desirable
  • Experience of tender situations desirable

 

Job description

Finance

  • Assisting with the preparation of Statutory accounts for Audit 
  • Producing monthly subsidiary management accounts
  • Payroll reconciliation
  • Review nominal reconciliations
  • Fixed asset transactions
  • Monthly accounts checks e.g. accruals, journals
  • Benchmarking
  • Reviewing non-purchase order transactions

Internal Audit

  • Coordination and completing the Trust’s internal audit program
  • Reporting on the Internal Audit program
  • Reviewing and ensuring compliance with the Trust’s Financial Policies and Procedures

Cash

  • Bank reconciliation
  • Cashflow forecasting and monitoring
