About Our Client

Flowminder Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation based in Stockholm, Sweden. Their mission is to improve public health and welfare in low and middle-income countries with analysts located in Southampton, UK and Geneva, Switzerland.

Flowminder works with governments, inter-governmental organisations and NGOs with key donors being The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the UN Foundation.

The main operation of the organisation is to collect, aggregate, integrate and analyse anonymous mobile operator data, satellite and household survey data. The analysis enables Flowminder to map the distributions and characteristics of vulnerable populations in low and middle-income countries and subsequently help save lives by providing analysis and decision support to all relevant parties.

Flowminder work in close collaboration with the University of Southampton on the WorldPop Programme, which focuses on understanding geographic variation and inequity in health status, wealth, and the access to resources within countries in order to meet development goals.

 

Job Description

Reporting into the CEO and the Board and being responsible for managing an international team of 4 people, the Head of Finance is responsible for:

  • Ensuring effective financial management by leading the development and maintenance of accounting processes for a multi-entity organisation as well as meeting the statutory and reporting standards and deadlines
  • Donor management and reporting which includes handling contracts and grant management, cost recovery models and revenue management and donor compliance
  • Developing and owning the business model and growth through effective financial planning, maximising income and strong financial reporting
  • Maximising revenue from consultancies, monitoring and managing working capital effectively and ensuring financial viability of projects and grant agreements
  • Managing of the finance function across three locations; UK, Geneva and Stockholm

 

The Successful Applicant

You will be a qualified accountant with demonstrable experience of setting up entities across Europe and/or globally and dealing with the technical accounting and tax implications of each country. Knowledge of Swedish accounting and entities would be a strong plus.

You will have ideally worked within a consultancy or progressive non-profit environment and are familiar with the project accounting elements involved.

Experience of improving and implementing new processes, procedures and systems whilst engaging with the entire business to garner buy in from day one is pivotal to this appointment.

You will have a natural interest in Flowminder's mission and will demonstrate a willingness to further understand the operations of the organisation.

The successful candidate will be required to travel to Geneva initially for a handover and on an ongoing basis thereafter, the frequency of which will vary.

 

What's on Offer

Salary of circa £65,000 - £70,000 + benefits.

A relocation allowance will be offered in addition to this.
