Accounts Assistant

Based in Tring, Hertfordshire, our client is an expanding and industry leading company who are looking for a Finance Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis and add value within a medium sized finance team.

This job would suit a candidate with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a finance team within a medium sized company, dealing with a range of accounting duties such as purchase ledger, credit control and payroll. The job will involve calculating contractor invoices with speed, accuracy and efficiency as well as ensuring that sales invoices are issued on a monthly/ad-hoc basis in a timely manner.

This company is an international business working across Europe who have experienced considerable growth over the past 10 years with similar growth expected over the next 2. The business is renowned for recruiting and training staff to ensure they grow and develop within the company.

The successful individual will have experience in undertaking sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control within a multi-currency organisation. The candidate must have advanced Excel skills with the ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. A high level or attention to detail is essential as are good organisational skills. Experience of Implementing of new software would be an advantage.

Duties will include:

  • Validation of records and change requests on CRM and Accounting systems, validating cost codes along with bill and charge rates
  • Ensure bank details are updated and correct on all systems
  • Process timesheets on an ad-hoc basis to ensure prompt and efficient payments
  • Enter new accounts on the sales ledger system, ensuring their integrity
  • Produce invoices where appropriate
  • Ensure that all invoices raised are emailed or posted on the same day
  • Ensure VAT numbers are added on all applicable accounts
  • Chasing all customers overdue debts and update client record on finance system and issue monthly customer statements
  • Log and code all supplier invoices and enter on Access daily
  • Analyse and log all staff expenses, including credit cards statements
  • Ensure supplier bank details are input on Access and Bankline
  • Reconcile supplier statements and deal with any queries which may arise
  • Update and maintain finance systems
  • Ensure filing is up to date at all times and personal working area is organised and desk is clear at the end of working day
