A qualified accountant is needed for a nine / ten month Financial Controller role in South Oxfordshire.

My client is a leading education provider in South Oxfordshire.

Your new role
The post of Financial Controller has responsibility for the financial management, control and accounting of the Organisation's financial resources and the effective delivery of work by the transactional finance staff.

Maintaining and progressing financial controls and compliance structures and policies to a blue-chip company standard including Working with the Finance Director to build a set of SarbanesOxley equivalent standard financial controls matrices, flow-charts and documentation.
Identifying weaknesses and designing new controls and processes to mitigate, then working with the Finance Director to implement through a professional change management process.
Working with the Head of Governance and Policies to ensure impacted matters in their area are kept up to date Implementing a regime of regular controls testing and continuous improvement
Keeping the documentation and controls updated as technology, EFA guidance, industry best practice and organisational needs evolve
Implementing the controls and compliance structure to all new schools joining the MAT and delivering training to finance and non-finance personnel on this area

What you'll need to succeed
Education and Training Strong A-Level grades with at least one of grade B or higher in a numerate or Science based subject
ACCA fully qualified (other qualifications can be considered if they include statutory accounting and tax knowledge to an equal or greater standard)
Knowledge Experience of delivering and being responsible for a substantial part or all of a well controlled monthly close process
Experience of statutory accounting and tax matters for companies
Supervisory / mentoring experience of others
Experience of working in a company with best practice finance controls and compliance.
Experience in delivery of year end statutory accounts
Strong systems awareness and demonstrable ability to pickup new systems skills quickly and adaptably. Experience of working with modern accounting packages
Effective written and spoken communication skills
Ability to persuade, motivate, negotiate and influence
Innovative personality.
Keen for change and "what's next?"
Willingness to travel within the South Oxfordshire area mostly, and further afield rarely
Enthusiastic, professional team leader and player, able to display humour and strong resolve
Respects confidentiality, deals sensitively with people and resolves conflicts

Able to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team
Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure

An enhanced DBS disclosure will be needed for this role
