Based in impressive offices in the heart of Liverpool City centre, our client is a highly regarded executive non-departmental public body - sponsored by the Home Office - and provides a high quality service to businesses throughout the UK. In the role of Senior Financial Accountant you will report to the Head of FA and the Financial Controller with a remit including:

Management of the Financial Accounting team to ensure it provides robust accounting advice and support.
Leading the monthly accounting process, coordinating inputs from other members of the team and ensuring reconciliations are completed and fixed assets are appropriately accounted for.
Preparation of the interim and year-end financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, public sector accounting requirements and IFRS
Providing advice on the application of accounting standards, and tax/financial control issues
Developing, reviewing and enhancing key models critical for year-end accounting purposes (such as the PFI model)
Production of statutory and civil service wide reports such as the transparency report.
Developing, maintaining and assuring the financial controls utilised throughout the company (including the safeguarding of assets).
Responsible for company banking arrangements, including the management of cash flow.
Pro-active management of credit control and purchase ledger functions.
Developing and maintaining effective working relationship with suppliers
Managing the Fixed Asset recording process
Liaising with internal and external auditors.
Supporting the successful implementation of operating and financial system enhancements.

Applicants will be Fully Qualified CIPFA/CIMA/ACCA/ACA Financial Accountants with broad financial accounting skills & experience, knowledge & experience of IFRS application, experience of the preparation & audit of financial statements, knowledge of finance systems, processes & control environments and the will have the ability to work flexibly and respond positively to changing business needs (including leading a team through these changes). Applicants who have prior knowledge of the application of public sector financial reporting and management (including the Financial Reporting Manual (FReM), Managing Public Money etc) will be of particular interest. A competitive salary £34,168 to £39,885 is complimented with benefits including Flexitime, Outstanding Pension (22% employer contribution), Healthcare and 25 days holiday.
