Assistant Accountant required for a delightful SME business based in central Birmingham. Joining a growing SME business that's recently been acquired by a larger group, this is a brand new position that will suit a Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidate with ample experience in all-round accounts functions.

This will be a multi-faceted position where you will have overall responsibility for the transactional/ledger finance as well as month end duties to support the Financial Controller directly, so previous experience in clerical finance and management accounting is required.

As the Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Processing of all invoices and supplier statements, and working with supply chain to ensure PO system operates effectively
  • Credit control for the one of the business units 
  • Daily download of bank statements and processing relevant journals
  • Supporting the production of monthly management accounts, including accruals and prepayments
  • Control account reconciliations
  • Assisting the Financial Controller in preparation for external audit

Person requirements
The ideal candidate will be Qualified by Experience and come from a strong background of SME businesses. You should be willing to 'muck in' at all levels from invoicing to supporting month end. It will be just this position and the Financial Controller, so a likeable personality is essential.
