Cost Accountant

Your new company
Leading UK multi -site retail business are looking to recruit a Project/Cost Accountant on a 12 month contract basis. The Project/Cost Accountant will be based at their offices in Colchester, Essex and will have travel across the various sites in the business.

Your new role
The Project/Cost Accountant will report to the Group Financial Controller and work closely with the Directors and Senior Management, reviewing the business costs and business processes across the business. They will then provide detailed management information with key analysis and make recommendation to drive improvement in cost control and cost efficiency.
Key responsibilities

• Collect, analyse and evaluate cost information from the Group
• Provide commercial analysis of all costs across the Group as an end to end process
• Provide detailed analysis on MI and budgets, making recommendations for improvement actions or cost control where appropriate.
• Manage and analyse large volumes of data, provide observations, and ensure all relevant reporting and information is provided to Group Financial Controller and relevant budget holders in a timely and accurate manner
• Support in providing forecasts to monitor progress towards financial goals for the Group
• Liaise with budget holders to understand and assess varies budgets and cost
• Provide cost saving plans for each division within the Group and also head office functions, present the plans to the relevant stakeholders and set up detailed monitoring of plans to demonstrate to the Group Financial Controller and Group Finance Director clear impact and cost savings delivered.
• Set up suites of cost saving KPI's that can be used in the Group to monitor effectiveness of on-going costs and cost saving initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed

• In-depth technical accounting experience, specifically within cost management
• Experience within a cost or project accounting role, preferably from the retail sector
• ACCA/CIMA qualifications desirable
• Advanced Excel proficiency (Macros, vLookups and Pivot Tables)
• Full UK driving licence
