Our client is a leading housing association operating in the Merseyside area. Due to the business going through a period of growth, they are currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join their friendly and supportive Finance team. Reporting directly to the Accountant in what is an exciting and varied role, responsibilities will include:

  • Prompt running of the weekly closedown processes
  • Reviewing and authorising transaction batches prepared by the Finance Officer
  • Accurately reconciling control accounts
  • Undertake month end closedown processess and reconciliations
  • Produce and distribute Management Information and reports
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements including reconciliations and preparing journals
  • Assist other Finance & Procurement Assistant Accountants in providing corporate, management reporting and other services
  • Proactively liaising with the Rents and Income team in identifying and resolving suspense items and other anomalies on rent accounts
  • Efficiently processing electronic batches between the Housing Management System (HMS) and Financial Management System (FMS)
  • Making property amendments including additions, disposals and conversions
  • Producing annual service charge statements
  • Calculating the bad debt provisions
  • Validating and processing rent account write off proposals
  • Updating the HMS with rent and service charge information

Our client wants to consider a range of applicants; happy to consider applicants who are AAT Qualified or in the final stages, or studying towards CIMA or ACCA, but applicants must have some previous experience of Management Accounting. Previous experience of operating in a similar profile role within the Housing sector would be beneficial but not essential. As the role involves liaising with a variety of teams, you must have strong communication skills and will have confidence in working on projects. Strong MS Excel skills are essential and Open Accounts experience will be of particular interest.
