Assistant Accountant - Manufacturing - Stoke on Trent - £22,000-£27,000

Macildowie Finance is currently working on a position offering the opportunity to work for a Manufacturing Business. based in Stoke on Trent.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join the Finance team in a varied role which supports the management accounts process.

Main duties include assisting with the production of Management Accounts, including posting to the ledger and calculation of accruals; management reporting of cost and headcount budget variances; assisting in budgeting and forecasting for labour costs and headcount numbers. The role also provides the opportunity to help improve processes.

The finance team will be playing an active part in leading and supporting the company in achieving its business objectives and revenue targets by providing key financial insight and control; whilst driving improvements to the operation and financial processes.

So what is the job?

• Preparation of Capital Expenditure budget and forecast.
• Manufacturing Variance Analysis
• Gross margin analysis
• Bookkeeping
• Maintenance of Fixed Assets Register including asset additions, disposals and transfers.
• Capital project reviews with project managers, review of costs and explanation of variances to planned spend.
• Holiday/absence cover for Payroll, Sales and Purchase Ledger
• Posting of payroll into ledgers, calculating and posting of labour accruals.
• Preparation of annual labour cost and headcount budgets and regular forecast updates.
• Reporting of labour and headcount costs and explanation of variances to budget/forecast.
• Balance Sheet Reconciliation.
• Ad hoc Project work as required.

What are you like?

• Knowledge of fixed asset processes.
• Experience of posting journals, calculating accruals.
• High level of Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, Sumifs
• Experience with Microsoft Navision is ideal
• Well organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience of working within a manufacturing environment
• Flexible and able to adapt to different tasks.
• Desire to ensure tasks are seen through to completion.
• Proactive, challenging nature.
• Team player.
