Accountant - Real Estate. Our Client is a private family investment company who own a multi-million pound portfolio across the UK. Their current portfolio consists mainly of commercial properties although there are some residential and health care properties too. They are now looking for an experience Accountant to take care of the full accounting function.

The Role: Reporting to the UK Director and the family office, the duties include:

  • Preparing statutory accounts for the business and tax returns for the Directors.
  • Monthly and annual financial reporting including the production of management accounts as well as handling the annual audit.
  • Compliance reporting with lenders and managing the banking relationships.
  • Managing the financial closing of property acquisitions.
  • Setting up weekly online payments and raising rent demands.
  • Processing and management the payroll and CIS returns.
  • Handling the VAT returns.
  • Chasing outstanding debts and handling the full credit control function.
  • Liaising with suppliers and contractors.
  • Performing bank reconciliations.
  • Handling the treasury function.

The Person: The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with at least 5 years UK based accounting experience. This is a busy and dynamic accounting role and therefore for the candidate must be a 'hands-on' and experienced enough to handle all aspect of both the company and property accounts. The incumbent will have a sound understanding of UK regulations and experience of working with HMRC, Companies House or third party organisations. It will be useful if you have experience of using any property or accounting systems such as Sage.
