I am working with one of the largest companies in the UK that are looking for an experienced finance professional to come in as a General Ledger Associate. As General Ledger Associate you will have extensive experience in both Purcahse and Sales Ledger. Experience dealing with intercompany transactions will be ideal as well as use of SAP.

Position Purpose:

The Record to Report (R2R) team within the Business Service Centre (BSC) consists of three departments, General Ledger (GL), Intercompany (IC) and VAT.

The GL Team team comprises of eighteen people in total with the GL Associate role reporting directly into the GL Team Lead.

The team have responsibility for ensuring timely closing of each period end in accordance with IFRS and JSOX requirements and the associate will require a thorough understanding of core General Ledger and Fixed Asset end to end processes and continuously work with the team to identify areas for continuous improvement to drive productivity and strengthen the control environment across the R2R function.

The role will combine good accounting knowledge with analytical and communication skills.

It should be noted that tight reporting deadlines will often require a degree of flexibility regarding working hours, particularly during period close.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

Core Tasks:

  • Take responsibility for the processing of accounting entries through month end, quarter end and year end meeting all deadlines
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on a timely basis in line with internal SLA's
  • Ensure quality control checks are completed, verified and actioned where necessary
  • Assist Corporate Accounting by resolving any data check issues arising from the Group Consolidation close process each month
  • Assist the market with various adhoc duties, including audit queries, profit centre & cost centre maintenance

Compliance:

  • Ensure JSOX controls are accurately executed and evidenced in line with Company controls
  • Provide support during Internal/External Audit

Relationships:

  • Actively build and develop good working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Knowledge share and improvement suggestions with other team members and other BSC teams

Processes and Controls:

  • Constantly review all processes with a view to improve efficiency

Minimum Requirements:

  • Studying OR part qualified (AAT, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) advantageous
  • Experience in an accounting related role
  • Experience preferably within a multinational company
  • SAP experience essential (FI and CO)
  • Excellent understanding of the General Ledger and Fixed Asset end to end process
  • Ability to adapt during periods of change
  • Good Microsoft Excel data manipulation and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
