The Communities fundraising group at Cancer Research UK brings together the fundraising teams for Trading, Volunteer Fundraising and Events – this role will be working with the Volunteer Fundraising (VF) team as they work to deliver life-saving fundraising across the UK.

VF work with hundreds of volunteer committees to support their fundraising goals - including the renowned Relay for Life events, encourage regional corporate partners to fundraise for us, as well as providing support to thousands of individuals in their fundraising efforts – whether that’s climbing a mountain or baking cakes! Together the team helps bring in over £40m per year, with a strong growth trajectory planned.

We are looking for an influential and ambitious Finance Manager to…

  • Lead on the preparation and execution of all VF financial planning. This will include forecasting, budgeting and 5 year plans
  • Lead on the use and development of data systems within Communities (including Siebel, OBI and in-house Digital platforms) to ensure the business is able to capture and interrogate data effectively.
  • Provide analysis and scrutiny of financial and non-financial outcomes to inform decision making and direction, leading and motivating a Finance Analyst and a team of 3 Insight & Analysis specialists to work closely with the teams they support.
  • The Finance Manager will build strong relationships with Communities Director and leadership teams, working closely with the fundraisers to deliver valuable insights, as well as relevant reporting and analysis

It’s cancer’s turn to be afraid. Cancer Research UK is leading pioneering, life-saving research and our long-term ambition is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.  We’re smart, brave and ambitious individuals united by our relentless pursuit of beating cancer sooner.

Help us bring forward the day when all cancers are cured through your ability to...

  • be an effective Finance Manager for the Communities teams with excellent influencing and relationship-building skills
  • provide analysis and scrutiny of financial outcomes and other indicators of business performance, to inform decision making and direction
  • identify, define and deliver continuous improvement in Finance services and support systems
  • the Finance Manager will build networks with technology teams to develop and improve the data and systems used to monitor our progress in partnering with supporters

Our passion, determination and ambition leads us to set ourselves more and more challenging targets, which means that, in supporting the fundraising teams, you’ll be constantly striving to build your knowledge and understanding of fundraising operations and of external economic factors and their impact.  To deliver the best business partnering service you’ll be willing to stretch yourself and to be innovative.

If this describes you, you can develop your career with us as, together, we bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
