Position overview
We are currently in the process of relocating our Corporate Controlling Function from the USA to the UK and therefore have an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant (ACA) who has significant experience overseeing the monthly global consolidation, global chart of accounts, governance of the month end close process and delivery of quality assured financial statements. Leading and developing the consolidation team you will manage the monthly multi-site, multi- currency consolidation process and will suit someone who enjoys and has the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. As this is a new team there is a very real opportunity to mould and shape your team and drive innovation in the Group Reporting Function and to elevate current process and procedure for ConvaTec Group.
Key duties and responsibilities of Director Of Financial Reporting:
- Management of the close to report process across the finance community driving continuous improvement in the end to end process to enable shorter reporting timelines delivering accurate and automated financial reporting
- Ensure appropriate governance over the monthly close process to deliver accounts prepared in accordance with the internal timetable.
- Manage the monthly multi-site, multi-currency consolidation process ensuring that an appropriate control framework delivers assured consolidated financial statements
- Manage the global intercompany eliminations process and ensure that all reconciliations are prepared and reviewed on a timely basis
- Lead the preparation and finance-wide communication of the annual month end close calendar
- Manage the global chart of accounts, optimizing structure and maintaining integrity
- Manage the financial accounting process for integrating acquisitions from a financial reporting and consolidation standpoint and embedding changes in accounting standards into the consolidation process
- Drive the continued review of reporting from HFM, automating report production wherever possible
- Lead the team in delivering financial data for quarterly statements, interim statements and annual report and accounts
- Lead the delivery of insightful variance analysis on the monthly balance sheet and cash flow and create a plan to automate this analysis and reporting
- Work with the FP&A team to deliver improved management reporting to the Executive and Board
- Manage the relationship with the external auditors in relation to the consolidation to support delivery of an efficient audit process at half-year review and year-end audit
- Ensure that all processes, reporting and controls are appropriately documented and develop a remediation plan to close any gaps identified.
- Provide support on special projects as required.
- Provide the appropriate financial information for debt compliance report to Treasury
Role requirements
Person Profile:
Must have:
- Chartered accountant (ACA)
- Significant experience of a complex global IFRS consolidation in a multi-site, multi-currency environment
- Experience of reporting in a UK PLC environment
- Demonstrable track record of making improvements to systems and processes
- Experience of using HFM as a consolidation and reporting tool
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and highly organized
- Strong leadership and experience in building high performing teams

Highly developed interpersonal skills are key to success in this role as you will be a key point of contact in maintaining ongoing collaboration with various corporate, regional and market finance functions to ensure that transactions are identified and disclosed appropriately. In addition, you will work with the external auditors to set and support a timely and efficient audit process, which includes maintaining and providing support related to the financial statements and disclosures. You must be able to stay in touch with changes and developments in new accounting guidance, including potential impact on ConvaTec, and provide guidance regarding implementation and you will be responsible for translating these and helping the business to understand how they can be adopted and implemented effectively within the business and across all regions/countries where appropriate. You must be a self-motivator and able to work quickly and efficiently to get the job done.
