A leading private Healthcare business is looking to hire a Financial Control Manager for a 12 month contract. You will be responsible for driving the finance governance, risk and control management activities across the Financial Reporting team.

The sucessful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of a number of Group finance enterprise policies and associated financial control policies including sharing best practice across the finance community.

Accountabilities and Activities


Reporting into the Director of Financial this role will involve:

  • Building trusted relationships across the Finance teams providing Subject Matter Expertise on finance risk and controls
  • Owning the day-to-day relationship with the second line of defence
  • Leading the Internal Control and Risk Management Assessment for Finance -related Enterprise policies
  • Collaborating with wider finance teams and sharing of best practice
  • Chairing the Global Finance Control and Data Quality Governance Committees
  • Monitoring risks and controls and provide timely reporting to the Corporate Controller and Group Risk (including Key Risk Indicators, Top Risk Reporting and Incident Reporting)
  • Maintaining Financial Statement Risk Assessment and FC&R Risk Register
  • Leading/Contributing on various governance processes relating to the Annual Report and Accounts
  • Leading improvement of processes and decision making by providing information to enable challenge of the status quo in pragmatic and proactive manner
  • Providing leadership to one direct report including continual development and direction

The ideal candidate will need to be:

  • Qualified (ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Have experience of working in a senior position in Finance function within a financial services corporate organisation, ideally insurance.
  • Experience of internal controls/risk management in particular financial controls (experience within insurance is a plus)
  • very analytical with exceptional problem solving and issue resolution abilities
  • An excellent communicator
  • Pragmatic in their approach to work being able to take a flexible approach to work
